Not needing, not seeking, not searching is a beautiful way to walk the Earth

On this day one year ago Tony and I had our first not-a-date date. We went for a pizza, my favourite food, and a glass of red at a local beachside cafe.

We shared food and talked for hours. It was effortless.

I still had no idea that this man would write my life in a way I had neither expected nor dreamed. That was still 6 or more weeks away.

I was not looking. I had stopped looking years, a decade back. Therefore I did not have that undercurrent of seeking, searching.

My life and my single status were completely wonderful. I was at peace.

Not needing, not seeking, not searching is a beautiful way to walk the Earth.

To be spontaneously aroused by curiosity, beauty, the emergent. To live at the threshold of the unknown, to quit the burden of expectation.

To marvel at the sunrise, each day. The way the snails seem to find a way back into the garden each night and eat the lettuce leaves.

Perhaps the kind of love Tony and I have found, love I never knew possible, is because we each fell in love with life in its exquisite and unpredictable unfolding, we each found solace and abundance in our own heart-body being.

And one day we looked up, and saw each other reflected.
