We are not our words but our actions

We are not our words but our actions.

Easy is it to speak of things we will do. How we will be. 

I can write and write and write. I can speak of grand visions. Of dignity. Respect.

Yet how I show up, how I am with you, with those who disagree with me, with the stranger, this is my true measure.

Can I stand in my mistake? Fully. Exposed, vulnerable. Humbled?

Am I able to apologise? Not more words wrapped in excuses, even tears.

To truly apologise. From the guts of my soul to those I have harmed? No excuse. No BUT. No rationalisation. 

Can I see the words I speak and the actions I take triggered by my own unreconciled violence are the mirror of the very impulse I claim to defend?

Being human is a moment by moment dance. At the point of blind arrogance and hubris our fall is the greatest.
