Polarity is essential
It is a gloomy winter’s day here in the Southern Hemisphere. The first cloudy, wet day in weeks.
Yet the sunrise!
I marvel constantly that the most spectacular sunrises are often when it is gloomy and cloudy. The light needs the dark to contrast beauty.
We forget this. We want smooth sailing, no friction, no shadow, no darkness.
Yet it is the polarity itself that holds the shape for beauty.
Relationships that are all smooth sailing, too nice, and too polite are relationships imploding in lag.
We need the space for disagreement. Robust debate. Different perspectives. Diversity.
Spaces where the tension is held until resolution and agreement are restored. The form taken moving forward is never guaranteed. Yet polarity is essential to the existence of all that is alive and vital.
