Expand and contract
This last week has been a week of contraction. Singular focus. All extraneous activities and noise turned off.
My mental bandwidth resisting, for a good reason, anything but what needs to be attended to.
It has not been the time to expand my intellect, ruminate on systems, or dive down the rabbit hole of understanding cogs in the cogs of things. The hefty tome gets cast aside for lightweight entertainment where not thinking is restorative.
It has been the time to focus on caring for my partner’s healing as he recovers from major surgery. To hold the space for him to return to full health as quickly as possible.
To expand and contract our being, intellect, heart, and physical selves is to breathe. There is a time for expansion and a time for contraction.
They are not separate, but two sides to the same coin.
Life provides lessons in the smallest of things. How easily we ignore them.
Breathe in, breathe out. Expand, contract. Move, rest. Push, pull. Get up, get down.
Unity is plural, at minimum two.
