Interdependence is life

A child born without the support of a team of people will not survive.

Life is networks, connections, threads. 

Yet we propagate the ridiculous myth of the rugged solo individual. 

This prevailing narrative is the anchor of our monetary system and neoliberal politics.

On your own. You against the world. Be the hero. Man against machine. You are weak if you ask for help. 

The economy is an interconnected network of connections. A healthy economy is relational.

Life is relational.

We need each other, just as we need a healthy environment. 

There is no ‘over there’ to throw our toxic.

Over there is us. 

Every time we find ourselves once again in the capture of ‘I need to do this, figure this out, make this work…on my own,’ consider just how badly infected we have become by the cultural hero myth.

The rigged game we are in knows that the greatest threat to its continued existence is the re-discovery by everyone that we are interdependent.
