Being with people in their context

Being with people in their context

I am writing on a train heading to the airport to fly to Geneva.

This trip was cobbled together at the last minute around a three-day retreat I am facilitating in Switzerland.

I have been meeting, for the first time, people I have known in the digital world for about three years.

Many people have told me they do not like Zoom; they want the in-person experience. Both have pros and cons. Yet in my work, we do manage to go beyond the digital and make genuine and deep human connections.

Meeting in person has affirmed that. The ease and naturalness of being with each other. It is the delight of this affirmation that I cherish. Precious times and conversations.

Sitting together around a table, over a meal. How sweet is that?

Yesterday my host Michael and I went for a long walk in the forest accompanied by Monty the dog. These are moments I treasure.

Meeting and being with people in their context, where they are home.

In the swirling and disintegrating chaos of the world, despite the still persistent tugs of jet lag, I feel spiritually refreshed.
