Three dolphins

One of those days. Rainy, grey skies. 

The ocean water clear and clean. 

Messy waves. 

I looked to the horizon, the practice of every surfer, watching for the incoming waves, and noticed three dark shadows in the waves further out. They were moving fast. 

Dolphins. Doing dolphin things, which to me looks like playing. 

And then suddenly, right on the wave beside me, they surfed through the waves. Together. 

Perfect synchronicity. A dolphin murmuration.

I cannot imagine ever loosing the wild sense of delight to witness this, to be so close, to know they know exactly where I am, and that we are sharing their playground.

Their joy of living catches me by osmosis. 

To be a human who gets to experience the dolphins so regularly is to put me in a category of lucky that I cherish.
