Dizzy with beauty

Our New Zealand adventure is unscripted. Go where the ocean is likely to have waves. Follow the swell.

So far we have not surfed, but the forecast is looking good.

This is what happens when your sport is fully dependent on weather. Patience learned.

Expectations need to be unhooked.

Yesterday we decided to head to the East Coast, a little place called Mangawhai Heads. Oh, did we follow the advice of the Gods.

We found ourselves camped right by the beach, with stunning views across the water. Far from people. A beautiful camp-cooked meal and a stunning red wine from Waiheke Island. The stars and the Milky Way breathtaking. The breeze cool enough to snuggle, not too cold. The view from our bed the kind people pay fortunes for.

We head north again today, up the East Coast. The call of the swell. No script.

I read the news feed and it feels far away.

I am dizzy with beauty. Anything or anyone who does not fall to their knees daily in unspeakable gratitude for the divinity of Mother Nature is a fool.

I did not come on this adventure to be reminded of my foolishness. I am grateful that I have been.
