The world needs Mothering

Like a wounded child, Earth cries to be held. To be loved.

To be loved.

How could we, stewards, guardians and parents to Earth, treat her with such cruelty?

The people all across the planet need to be loved and held fondly – all of them, in all their different glory. 

Mothering is required in the halls of government, across the boardrooms. 

Fierce. Loving. Gentle. Caring. Considerate. Nurturing.

Compassionate. 

For too long, Mothering has been kept to kitchens and children’s rooms. 

Our leaders are children—drunk on power, running rogue, unbounded by constraints. They need the counterfoil of the Mother.

And they know it, working at every turn to keep her from the halls of power. 

If you are celebrating Mother’s Day today, all of you born of a Mother, please be sure that it is not just your Mother you honour, but Mothering itself. 

Bring her out of the kitchen and onto the decision tables. To balance the codes running riot, crafted by unruly man children, over a healthy life for all.
