Moral Leadership

Moral Leadership

Once upon a time, it would have been the end of a political career for one of the most powerful men in the US Senate to wish death and suffering upon a young woman who has stood up to power and genocide since her teens. (Or, one of the great American myths, the right to free speech, which is actually only a right for those in power and has never been a right for the suppressed.)

“Hope Greta and her friends can swim.” Tweets Lindsay Graham.

As if there are plans in play where swimming might be needed.

Consider this. Consider that a 22-year-old woman who fights for the lives of women and children, who has linked the obvious effects of climate change with the capitalistic Molochian machine (https://syntropic.world/breaking-free-from-molochs-grip-charting-a-new-course-for-humanity/) that profits enormously from Israel’s genocidal hate towards Palestine, threatens the sensitivities of an old white US senator, a man who, like most of his ilk, have gained not just power but incredible wealth from their roles as ‘public’ representatives.

Consider that it is even acceptable for a man to wish publicly for the demise of a young woman. I know men who hate Greta because she tells them off, as if the right to tell them off is an incomprehensible indignity when it comes from a woman, particularly a young one.

In Japan, a minister had to step down because his comment about not needing to buy rice was deemed insensitive and out of touch. Bravo, Japan, for maintaining a moral code.

The failure of our leadership is beyond redemption.

May Greta and her crew not only not need to swim, but may they be triumphant in their mission.

Our moral leadership is not found in the halls of capital buildings around the world.

But on the streets, with the protestors and revolutionaries.
