A great use of technology

A great use of technology

Technology is supposed to enhance existence. Make life better for all.

Learning how to make a fire consistently was a game-changer.

But techno addicts and the technofeudalist lords want to squeeze humanity, life and beauty into technology, having us adapt to it, rather than having technology adapt to better humanity.

It is another expression of domination and capture to extract and exploit. AI – applied statistics – has its use. But trying to squeeze all of life and actions into AI is dangerous beyond our current comprehension.

If you have been following Beauty for a while, you will know I started my learning to surf adventure during COVID, with my partner, a lifelong surfer, my coach. If there is surf, I am out there before dawn.

The changes and learnings are so small that you can miss them, unless you look back at the arc of time and see how far I have come.

Yesterday Tony brought me a new second-hand board. It is my fifth board. It is always a gamble, because you never know what a board can do until you ride it. I had no idea that each board is so different, that you cannot look at a surfer in the water and their skill without also looking at the board they are riding. (Unless you are a world-class surfer, where any board is rideable.)

I am gobsmacked by how this board has allowed me to feel, for the first time, like I am a surfer. How good it feels under my feet. How it enables me to do things so much better than I thought possible. It is almost like it is a key that has unlocked everything that was already there.

This is a great use of technology. To bring better out.
