Are you worthy of devotion?

The business-as-usual model, numbers based, profit maximising, cares naught for the discreet individual humans who toil to enable the business success.

Be they those who mine the precious metals, far far away from the shop that sells the goods, or the people who answer the complaints line…we are all numbers on some chart.

Into this milieu we add the western path to success. A school curriculum that normalises, marginalising anyone who does not fit the statistical curve. A story of what is required to get to the top. Get good grades, work hard, work harder, win by merit. It negates the recognition of privilege, access, starting from a stable foundation, or some form of wealth.

Top it off with our strange addiction to celebrity. The influencer? Almost any influencer I have seen is a husk, some artificial projection of beauty, success, peaches and cream goodness, or even rock star bad arsery, any true substance missing.

Are you worthy of devotion we might ask when we consider all of this?

How do we actually treat our mind body being? Do we practice reverence for our gift of life and the vessel that enables us to create our life and the lives of others?

Do we honour ourselves and our intrinsic value?

Or have we become so robotisised by modern culture that we see ourselves as the number, the statistic, the object that our capitalistic model wants us to be?

To dignify the value of all life we might dignify the value of our own life.
