Breakdown of trust

When we no longer trust governments, when the politicians dismiss science or take pieces of science that are aligned with their agenda only, bow to the power of the corporate dollar, and rarely take responsibility for their mistakes, it is hard for the people to respect requests in strange times like these.

This is the consequence of years of politicking.

There is a blowback. We don’t trust you, therefore we will do as we please. Or we don’t see how this is advancing a greater cause for all of us, therefore we will do as we please.

Trust requires consistency, clear messaging, the ability to admit mistakes, grounded evidence, a steady hand, humility.

This is the same for parenting, leadership and stewardship.
