Composting the personal

There is something about this time of year that has me spontaneously cleanout.

It is as if I need to edit, delete, clean, create space…as a natural impulse before the new year.

The spirit of cleaning out and throwing away possesses me like a force.

My digital photo album, my computer, the garage, my files, clothes….all up for radical cleansing.

Not a drawer, not a room, nothing passes my determination to clean.

I am not the same person who walked into 2020 on January 1st. What I need, what I want, what aids my well-being, is not what was required 12 months ago.

This is my snakeskin-shedding time.

So much, including identity from past roles, being composted.

It is an act of self-love. And in the act, an invitation for the new to enter into a spacious, open place.
