Gratitude is the way out of darkness
Not so long ago I was in the darkest despair. The epicentre of my own earthquake came after at least a decade of tremors.
To know the bottom of the pit might be essential if we want to also know gratitude that expands Universes.
Today my gratitude expands Universes.
The image of the sunrise was taken from the balcony of our new home. I now live surrounded by a nature reserve, water and the sounds of native birds, kookaburras and galahs.
I ran to the beach this morning, an easy 30-minute run. My love joined me for a walk and coffee before work.
I write this from my home in the trees, the cicadas singing in the background as the heat of summer rises, yet the cool morning breeze is a delight on my skin.
In a few moments I will tend to my work, remembering that we live in a world of horrible injustice that requires our attention and commitment.
For now I am grateful. My gratitude was the way out of my darkness. That is the paradox.
