To begin as the novice, to learn a new skill, task or way of being.
To humble ourselves to the art of knowing nothing.
To fumble. To fall. To persist. To learn, step by step.
To bow to listening to someone with experience. To study, watch, apply, adapt.
To experience the struggle of putting all the new pieces together.
There is such beauty here.
The practice of the novice is even more urgent as we age.
It keeps us young and alive.
More than anything, it ensures humility is close by.
