How did we get to this place?
A friend was telling a story of a man who had travelled all the way to the Amazon to experience the forest. The group was about to embark upon a night tour, quite an extraordinary experience.
The man discovered at that point that we had suddenly found an internet connection. He declined to go on the night tour, as he wanted to check his share portfolio.
How did we get to this place? What is the need that calls us to our share price more than to the experience of a forest that has existed for thousands of years and is fighting to stay in existence against the same man who finds shares more important?
How have we managed to lose our way so thoroughly? Yet is it not true that each of us, in our own way, ignores the very thing right in front of us that offers us a nourishment at the soul level that more shopping, more work, more eating, more drinking…will never offer us?
