If you are not at the table you are on the menu
Being invited to the table is why women and people of colour fought to gain the right to vote.
A seat at the table requires persistent work. The terrain shifts constantly, and rules change. Progress takes a step forward and then two backward.
The decision-making process we currently have is poorly constructed. There is a lack of wisdom, too much corrupting influence, and an insidious entitlement creep.
Those who are the most affected by poverty, climate change and war are never invited to be a part of the solution. These people are often the most innovative, having spent years figuring out how to make things work with a zero budget and few resources.
The drama story keeps us distracted to the point we miss that we might be on the menu.
Perhaps it is time we start a new table to replace the one that exists now.
