If you know, silence is not an option

You may be wondering why I write so much about the state of the world.

Martin Luther King Jr says it well. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.

As a lover of history, I remember wondering why so many Germans never protested the horror of the Genocide.

Silence.

Silence makes us complicit.

I wonder, seriously, what more I can do.

Writing is such a small and insignificant thing.

Tell that to Greta Thunberg. Or Anne Frank.

We can never discount the effect of precession. The side effects of our actions.

I never know the precessional effects of my writing.

But silence isn’t an option.

Beauty is never far from evil. I watched the most luminous, beautiful eyes of a young Palestinian boy trying to grasp that his brother, mother and father were gone. Beauty. Evil. So close, my heart could not handle it.

To deny the existence of evil, to not talk about it, is a privilege too high.

We do not have the right to that privilege.

If you know, silence is not an option.
