Indulgence

Indulgence

Is not an indulgence if it is every day. There is an unearned element to indulgence. It lives in excess.

If I indulge every day it has become a habit, an addiction. Heading towards an entitlement.

Therefore to indulge is to step out of scarcity. Be that of time, spaciousness, connectivity, beauty, money.

To indulge in a treat is a treat. The pleasure lives in the rarity.

We might dream of a life that is filled with indulgence. A life filled with indulgence misses the rare, shared experiences. The very thing that makes things special. To be treasured.

Some things, some moments are better for us when they are scarce.

The practice is to be fully with the experience as it happens.
