Love the age you are

I am learning, like most of us, to love the age I am in all its dimensions.

Injuries seem to happen more often and my body doesn’t bounce back from injury like it used to.

I am dealing with the whole seismic shift in hormones. I suspect this happens to men as well in a lesser but not insignificant form.

The shadow of ageism is now becoming a story, which means in being spoken about, we are on a path to shifting our relationship to age. I rejoice in this.

While I am in my sixth decade, I feel more vibrant than ever. I certainly know I now choose to only care about things that matter to me, rather than the frivolous thoughts of what people might think if I do this or that. No one told me this was a bonus of age that comes wrapped in wrinkles and unwanted belly fat.

I am not interested in cosmetic enhancements, yet I will do my best to stray strong physically, be as active as ever, eat vital food, challenge my mind, and stay adventurous.

Finally, science is beginning to do research about post-menopausal active women. I highly recommend Next Level, by Dr Stacy Sims.

Every age requires adaptation. Like all living things, it is change, adjust, explore, adapt, repeat. This is our body’s adventure. When I approach my age as an adventure, I can embrace and love the age I am.
