My humility gets a workout
Getting back into the water after several months out, the fear of the drop off the wave won this time.
Baby steps. Confidence building.
The water cold, the sun bright. Feeling alive.
Baby steps.
Enjoying the moment rather than capitulating to the fear.
Months of strength training and land practice prepare for the mental transition back into the water.
This world is vastly different from my day to day.
That is what makes it so powerful.
A new field of play, a whole new world to learn. My body reflexes are far from tuned to this game of surfing.
I am the beginner. And that is the fun of it. My humility gets a workout.
