Wild

For the last few days, I have been writing from a tiny coral atoll 72 kilometres offshore, and the far south of the Great Barrier Reef. Heron Island

Overnight the weather turned wild. Wild enough to throw objects off the balcony.

It has calmed down considerably as I write.

The sunrise image shows the beautiful blue of the atoll with the exposed reef at low tide and some light from the dawn sun.

I love Nature’s ways. I love that she can be calm one day and wild the next.

If you know oceans and water you know that no human-constructed wall will keep the ocean back. No object will defy the wind.

Nature humbles us.

In these next few years and decades, I think she will humble humans beyond our current comprehension. What we have experienced so far, so very tragic for millions of people – especially those who have contributed the least to our climate cancer – is just a dress rehearsal.

Silly humans – for so long believing we have dominion over Nature as if she is some creature separate from us.

Only when we remember we are Nature and that we must partner with Nature in everything will we truly be able to create a world with a future for Earth and all her creatures.
