Responsibility and authority

Responsibility and authority

Are not the same.

To take authority – authorship – is woven into leadership. Many people abuse authority as power over. Domination. Authority does not have to be this way. Domination is rarely necessary for good leadership.

To take responsibility means we are going to act, to put our name on the act. To choose to respond to the act and its consequences.

If someone chooses to take responsibility for a project they choose to have their name on that project, no matter what the outcome.

The world is filled with people who want authority but refuse to take responsibility. In this world it is all talk and no action. Blah Blah Blah.
