Structural change versus working in the broken system
I spent years tinkering within the system, hoping for major change.
I think about the ardent attempts to end poverty, a story that has been in my news feed my entire life. Yet poverty will not end until we move from a system that needs scarcity, poverty and enclosure to exist.
It is important to know the level of our work. Are we working in the field of supporting those at the effect of the systems? Feeding the hungry, housing the homeless? Very important work that needs love and care.
Or is it at the level of structural change? The longer game.
We need both.
