The truth tellers

Pay a high price. Often the highest of prices. Their lives.

We can’t handle the truth!

The truth can be ugly; it exposes cruelty, greed, corruption and addiction to power.

It makes those who feign an appearance of good be seen for who they really are.

It makes us confront our lies. The hardest truth of al.

We like it when truth tellers are complex humans, as we can point to their flaws rather than applaud them for the risk they take to expose truth. It is an easier out.

I honour the truthtellers and whistleblowers. I honour Julian Assange, Chelsea Manning, Edward Snowdon, David McBride, Richard Boyle, and the many thousands of others. They are made criminals while the corrupt and cruel walk free.
