The Tyranny of Structurelessness

The absolute rule of cruelty, where rules are for the ruled, never for the tyrant.

Or where there is a perception that structure and regulations inhibit freedom. Power wants to do whatever the hell they like when they like it.

If we are honest, we all want this type of structurelessness to some degree.

But it doesn’t work. When there is no structure, there is only chaos. Discipline is gone. Our cells require the membrane. Without it, there is no cell. Our bodies are bounded. When someone invades our space, we know the feeling.

Take away the structure, and we get the equivalent of no road rules.

Give people the opportunity to exploit, and in a society where profit and accumulation are incentivised at every turn, they will. When the game is win as much as you can, and let others lose, then many will play this game to the death.

Structure is the architecture of freedom and creativity. The right structure makes us better humans. Structure enables integrity.

The tyranny of structurelessness, the quest of libertarians, is a child throwing a tantrum for what they want now. It might look like a win-lose game, yet it is, eventually, lose-lose for all.

A healthy society has structure. Always evolving. In service to life for all.
