There are rainbows

There was a rainbow over Rainbow Bay.

I listened to an Australian satirist speak about how she had cancelled her trip to the USA because her job of making fun of anyone in the political headlines would be a risk to her life and safety if she crossed the border of the USA.

Can you imagine this thought a year ago? Six months ago?

Yet here we are.

I was listening to Tyson Yunkaporta speak on a podcast while I was running in the pre-dawn darkness this morning. He said that the stories from his ancestors—the longest continuous civilisation known—never ended with the good guys winning. They ended with everyone going down.

I was reading the latest article by Naomi Klein, co-authored by Astra Taylor. The rise of the end times of fascism. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2025/apr/13/end-times-fascism-far-right-trump-musk

The summary they make is very Syntropic. Something has to break. A big break. An apocalypse of some kind.

And then they wrote.

“We will need to build an unruly open-hearted movement of the Earth-loving faithful: faithful to this planet, its people, its creatures and to the possibility of a livable future for us all. Faithful to here.”

There was a beautiful rainbow over Rainbow Bay. I ran down to the beach to capture it. That sweet moment when the heavens insist on a pause of all we are doing. To stop. To look. To remember.

There is beauty. There is light. There are rainbows.

Now…back to work on building a better future today.

I carry the rainbow in my heart.
