What I admire most

Are people who demonstrate integrity and truth in their actions.

If they speak on Monday about something that they believe important, their actions on Tuesday and Wednesday clearly demonstrate that their words are backed by aligned action. They do not sell their soul to the highest bidder, to accumulate power and prestige.

I admire those people who take a stand against power structures that would diminish them because not doing so violates their integrity. They put their values, morals and ethics front and centre, prepared to pay the price for doing so.

I do not admire people who stand on a platform one day speaking against something, and then shortly afterwards become the spokesperson for the very thing they spoke out against.

I do not admire those who seduce and manipulate people to become acolytes for their personal gain.

I admire most the truth-tellers and integrity holders, who, year in and year out, demonstrate the trustworthiness of who they are. 100% of all they do, all of the time, is soaked in integrity, thoughtfulness for others and respect for humanity.

I look around the world stages of political posturing and cannot find people I admire.

Yet when I look to the elders and protectors of the rainforest, oceans, and land, I find them.

Those who are cut from the cloth of integrity have no interest in stages, platforms or fame. They have more important work to do. They are all around us, often unseen.

In a world topsy-turvy and drunk on the politics of extreme BS, I am hearted to know leadership is not gone.

It is just not where we are told to look.
