What is in it for me

What is in it for me, says the ‘impact’ investor.

For a start, a world with a future. Is that enough for you?

Or is there something else you desire?

Perhaps a few more decades of experiencing glaciers. Or clean rivers?

Or is there something else you desire?

How about a halt to the extinction of our beautiful creatures.

Is that enough for you?

Or is there something else you desire?

How about we stop poisoning the world with microplastics and you can begin to think your biology might once again be free from plastics pollution.  (That might take a generation or two.)

Is that enough for you?

Or is there something else you desire?

What is in it for me, says the oh-so-ardent ‘impact’ investor?

What is my return on investment?

Will any chance at a viable life suffice? Or is there something else you desire?

Ah, money, you want to make a shit ton of money for your impact investing.

Forgive me, I thought you were seeking to make an impact?

When do we consider viable life the real, best, only desired return on investment?

*H/T to Cindy Forde for inspiring this.

PS. I am not against an investor making a financial return on investment. However, in the world of ‘impact’ investing, the financial return should be a side effect, precessional, to the real investment in a viable future for Earth and all her creatures.
