At Some Stage in the Future

At some stage in the future, we will know.

Did we do enough?

Should we have been with those in the streets calling out for action?

Did we hold our leaders to account?

Did we fail to act?

The full report will be revealed.

We can deny today what becomes evident tomorrow.

This is how history is written. We look back and wonder how it happened. What happened that we said yes to that? Why did we remain silent?

Our grandchildren will wonder. How did our ancestors let millions starve, let the world burn, allow whole species to go extinct? How did we agree to politicians as daily, hourly liars on the payroll of the more powerful?

Genocide, injustice, colonisation, the worship of greed as success, happen on our watch.

To fail to think we can make a difference is to fail to acknowledge that we have purpose.
