Do you need money to start a business Part 2 (of 3) Maybe not

Do you need money to start a business Part 2 (of 3) Maybe not

We have taken Step 1. The very first step. This generally can be done without using other people’s money. Oh, and if you are not comfortable with using your own money then why are you building the business in the first place?

When we created the Synergistic Accounting app,  I had a zero budget.

The questions that were circulating in my head were questions such as…How could I, with no capital, get this off the ground?

There was a team of people working in the background on the app for several years. But it simply didn’t gain traction.

One day, Kairos timing, one of the Syntropic Community, requested that we do a Synergistic exchange. What this means is that we invite people to come into a conversation with an ask, and with much to give. In other words, we live in Synergistic Accounting.

The wonderful Michelle Seegers had an ask. She wanted to bring Synergistic Accounting to the world. I said yes. We had a quote for the tech build, and she said yes, she would fund it.

The exchange lives in the Synergistic Accounting tool, where the returns are considered in multiple domains. For many, they do not seek money in return. They might want relationships and community, or to be part of something. We cannot assume that the real return is financial. Michelle wanted to bring this tool to the world. Her passion and commitment to it, to applying Synergistic Accounting in her community, was evident.

We are about to go into round two beta testing and then begin to market this to the world. We do not know where the next round of money will come from, but I am sure it will. Our focus, as per Syntropic Principles, is on the very next step. Getting the tool in great shape. Getting our beta testers to help us with the big questions, like – how do we charge for this? And then the marketing strategy.

One step at a time. Always considering the whole. Never having money only lead.

In Part 3 I will discuss the lessons learned.
