How we dehumanise

How we dehumanise

The separation is propagated in language.

This person becomes an object. An employee. A resource. A refugee. A statistic. Data.

We have consumers, not citizens and people.

In our ability to separate from humanity by making people objects, we might then enact laws and actions without the burden of guilt and shame.

To name – this is Sara, Amir, John – to presence a human being, is the act of becoming human.

We must insist that our elected officials do not enable crimes against humans through their acts of dehumanising. People, humans, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers…call them by name.
