To be reverent and respectful of the sacrament that is our body

To be reverent and respectful of the sacrament that is our body

Sacrament – an outward and visible sign of an invisible and spiritual grace. A mystery.

Our body is a sacrament. The extraordinary complexity, design, coordination, mystery of the human body mind remains beyond reach of full comprehension.

If we pause long enough to consider this we find awe…that beautiful chasm of no-words.

Our mistake is to consider even for a moment that we can fully unpick every part, find the seat and source of consciousness, contain the expanse of a human body mind, and think that we end at the boundary of our skin.

Our bodies carry billions of others as we go about our lives. The bacteria and microbes that support us, that are vital to our wellbeing..our passengers, our silent, invisible, forgotten partners.

Our bodies are high-frequency tunable instruments. If we pay attention, our body provides feedback on both our interior condition and the changes in exterior ecology in which we inhabit.

To cultivate a reference to the sacred, we might begin to attend to the vessel that houses us.

To be reverent and respectful of the sacrament that is our body.
