Stumbling from novice to the next stage

To begin to learn something is such an adventure. The stage of the novice is a place to kiss our humility, time and again.

Sometimes frustrating, sometimes joyous, sometimes difficult.

Persistence matters. Staying in the spaces open to learning. Returning after failure, to try again.

The intention of fluency held firmly on a future horizon.

One day something clicks. All the jumble of unknowing shifts into a coherence that has flow. The timing is surprising, like a bubble popping. Just like that.

Far from mastery, yet no longer the beginner. 

There is beauty in that.

On this day, where the sunrise once again graced us with gorgeous majesty, on a perfect Pacific Ocean in the predawn light, I shifted across this threshold.
