Losing our agency is a choice only we can make

Losing our agency is a choice only we can make

I read the news this morning about another mass shooting in the USA. Another tragedy. Yet what I feel as an observer of the country that self-proclaims greatness is frustration. When, oh when, will it be enough? Enough deaths that people who want to change the laws around guns are on the streets every day. Every day! Protesting.

How many children need to die? What is the enough point?

Any citizen who feels helpless has succumbed to the forces that desire the cycle of guns continues.

Losing our agency is a choice only we can make. Even when everything is taken from us, everything, we have the agency to choose how we respond.

In 1983, I spent 4 months travelling around the USA. On my first day, I thought very clearly that I was in a country going through the modern-day equivalent of the Fall of Rome. Falling as nation often takes time. My opinion has not changed.

Guns to kill citizens, the rights of women to choose removed, and the assault on any form of diversity amplified. I do not see progress.

When will there be enough deaths by guns for people to take to the streets?
