SympoiesisÂ
Sympoiesis means making-with.
Poiesis is Greek and means production or composition. Syn or Sym means together.
The term was coined by the scholar Donna Haraway as a counter-response to the word autopoiesis, which means self-making.Â
Highly complex and emergent systems are made through interdependent, interlinked, complementary and tensile relationships, rarely by an autonomic agent.Â
We become together. We make together. Different elements, collaborators, agents, or components collaborate to create and generate new systems.
If we have designed the boundary conditions, the physical and metaphysical architecture of the enterprise that brings us together Syntropically, then the result of sympoiesis will be synergy – the outcome is infinitely greater than it would have been working in solo.Â
