Originally planned for 2019 after writing Beauty for a year.
Nature has its own gestation. Beauty did as well – of course. Should I have ever questioned her?
As her steward, she demanded care rather than haste. Love rather than platform. Maturation rather than a pubescent release.
Her journey was unpredictable. She demanded times of extreme waiting and the management of frustration that comes with that.
She needed the artists to assemble to bring her to life. Our extraordinary Brand Steward Rhea, and the book designer Eva. The loving input of Kimberly, Cindy and DJ.
She needed me to let go of what I wanted and allow her to become what she is.
Her move from digital to print was a journey of Syntropy. Stepping away from the old, the enclosed, the digital colonisers.
My partner Tony, calling me one afternoon, my frustration at a print-on-demand platform so immense after weeks of digital human disregard that happens with the big tech companies, suggesting we look to China.
Meeting Nelson, my printing steward from Shanghai. He treated me with profound courtesy and respect, always available, managing every step. Making promises and keeping them. The print quality is exceptional.
