Humility is a quality I admire deeply

Suddenly, a southerly front came in, the band of cloud spectacular, and spectacularly short in duration.

It was a moment in time.

It stopped everyone present.

Nature does that. She sweeps over us, leaving us stunned at her beauty and power.

I watch the news feed. The minority – the patriarchal, dominating white male supremacists – less than 8% of the global population according to my recent question to AI – whose leaders hold too much political power and financial wealth – flex their muscles and spew hate, their self-superiority seeking to reduce all who are not them, all who do not believe in the same god, all who express different values, into oblivion or subservience.

And then I witness Nature.

She laughs at the petty squabbles of humanity. One sleight of hand and cities can be reduced to rubble.

The contrast in perceived power is humbling for those of us who seek to honour Nature by being humbled, daily in her presence.

I watch the southerly front roll in, the cool wind on my cheek after a too-hot-for-September-night. I exhale. Knowing that in the end, our human arrogance against the might of Nature will never win.

Humility is a quality I admire deeply. Leadership absent humility is not leadership I respect.

I walked with my head bowed in humility this morning, captivated by Nature’s awe.
