Ludicrous

Imagine you are a community or city, and someone from far across the oceans insists they know better how to run your community or city.

They have no interest in consulting you, asking what you think, or even being open to the potential that your community knows how it wants to live, work and build a life and future.

They think they know best. Or, they simply do not care. Or, they have an ulterior motive – they want something you have.

This is the scenario that faces Greenland. Iran. Palestine. Venezuela. Ukraine. There are probably many more countries in this situation, and indeed, it has been the playbook for most countries in Africa and Latin America.

It is ludicrous.

The ‘superior’ male, generally white, thinks they are the only ones with the wisdom or right to deal the cards that affect people’s lives.

They thrive on holding the big boot over people’s necks. Crippling sanctions. Covert, or in this day, overt, regime change. Iran will never find its way while the West breaks its back.

Democracy is far from perfect. In a vacuum of genuine caring leadership, until we come up with better, it is worth fighting for.
