Times of Anomie

Times of Anomie

We are there.

Leaders can and do get away with crime, corruption, rape, pedophilia, and lying far more than telling the truth.

They deliberately stoke hate through fear, against the mostly innocent other, all to distract from the actions they take to stack the system to their favour.

States get cheered to enact genocide and apatheid, daily violence against the indigenous, and such cruelty against those they have incarcerated, most without any form of trial, and many of them children.

Anomie – “lawlessness, violation of (divine) law,” 1590s, Englished from French anomie, from Greek anomia “lawlessness,” abstract noun from anomos “without law, lawless,” from a- “without” (see a- (3)) + nomos “law” (from PIE root *nem- “assign, allot; take”). Etymology Online

Literally, a collapse of moral standards or ethical boundaries.

Resulting in feelings of isolation, powerlessness, and emotional emptiness.

Creating high levels of personal unrest, anxiety, or deviance (such as increased crime or suicide rates)

There are days I feel so overwhelmed by the West’s silence against such terrible atrocities being perpetrated on Palestinians and Lebanese that I am caught in the clutches of Anomie.

Throw into this mix the silence of the mainstream media as the crime family running the USA gets away with everything, and the rest of the world suffers for their greed.

And my own country’s political leaders daily break their commitment to the International Court of Criminal Justice.

The lawlessness to create such feelings of helplessness is the point.

Cruelty knows how to do this with animals. Beat them into submission.

Now more than ever, we need to remember our collective power of protest and refusal. Including our refusal to use the same weapons of violence that we protest against.
