Between

The space between. 

The silence between notes that makes music extraordinary.

The field of potential. 

The void, liminal.

Relationships are both those in the relationship and the space between them. Yet we often overlook the relational space, giving it little to no attention.

Ideas come from the space between. Think of a word. Where was the word before it came to mind? In that field.

Borders and thresholds define the crossing from one space to another. Yet thresholds are given little attention in our haste to get to work. 

Thresholds ask for our commitment and transformation. There is a shedding. Something must be left behind for the new to begin. This is the rite of passage. The initiation. There is a sacredness to the act if we would revere it as important and necessary.

In Syntropic World, the threshold crossing is designed with exquisite attention and care. We call it the Trust Manifesto – an agreement to trust. It is married with the Synergistic Audit – inviting people to nominate – to name – what they have the capacity, willingness and desire to bring, contribute and gift, and what they are expecting or hoping will arrive in return for our contribution.

The Steward Leader is attuned to the relational space between people, between people and their activities and intention, between people, things and the purpose we are stewarding. The field, potent – rich with warm data and potential. Emergent. Alive. Dynamic.

To be a Steward able to hold the space between people, purpose, and other things, creatures, the past, present and future – is a skill.

There is a requirement to be comfortable in not knowing. In being on the precipice. In holding the polarity between. In trusting the field and Kairos time.  

It is my happy, familiar place.
