Creating human symphonies
I am, and always have been, creative. I believe most children are widely creative, yet often have their creativity suppressed, made wrong, or unable to fit the box the system desires. It is tragic.
Creativity is finding order in chaos or chaos in order. In other words, it is looking at the status quo and seeking the new edge, or looking at the chaos and finding the thread.
To be a creative adult is to be entirely comfortable with the creative process, which is to be comfortable with emergence, uncertainty and the unknown.
Consider how you respond to the seemingly unstructured, to Kairos time, to building the plane while flying it. (https://syntropic.world/kairos-time-the-clock-of-the-heavens/)
Creative people express creativity in vast scales of difference. From musicians, to painters, designers, to storytellers and poets.
Or people like me, who are creative in ways that most people do not consider creative.
I can walk into a group or team of people – be in chaos or too ordered – and find a hidden thread that, if amplified, would enable ecologies of synergy and brilliance. I can hold the space for brilliance to emerge. For sense to be made. For BS to be called. I reflect, like a fine-tuned mirror, what people deny in themselves, so they can see it and make better choices. I can hold people, with loving fierceness, to their better selves.
I am an artist of human facilitation and individual and collective emergence. It’s like breathing for me – a fluency that comes naturally. I speak this language with a knowing in my bones that allows exquisite self-trust.
While I have known I have this skill from my early thirties, I have never given it such clear language as I do now.
I have written recently that I create human Symphonies. My artistry is as the Conductor.
There is a deep irony here. To know and name your great gifts after six decades.
Better later than not at all.
PS. If you desire your team to become a human Symphony, then let’s talk.
