Hypocrisy

Hypocrisy

It saturates the world.

The false equivalence makes my head spin.

Here is a snapshot, through a moment in time.

One group attacks another group savagely, cruelly, and unexpectedly.

For over two years, the narrative was that the attacked country has the right to self-defence.  So they went on a rampage of death and destruction, killing mostly the innocents, women, children, journalists. The right to self-defence the forever justification.

The attacked country then attacks another country, aided by its hegemonic partner, savagely, cruelly and unexpectedly, targeting the country’s leaders.

And when the attacked country attacks back – targeting, among other things, the military bases of their attackers – the West melts down in outrage.

Do they not also have the same right to self-defence?

Apparently not.

One country has an undisclosed number of nuclear weapons. Refusing to sign or be a party in any way to the nuclear non-proliferation agreement. But another country is absolutely denied the same right. Indeed, that denied right is a justification in and of itself to attack, sanction and cripple.

These are but two examples.

Every day, more and more hypocrisy.

This is not justice. It is rampant, greedy, imperial power, land and resource grabs by men who believe, for some unhinged reason, they are superior, and they have more rights.

None of these men ever graduated from kindergarten.

This hypocrisy lives everywhere. The right to be an immigrant but to refuse immigration. The right to opportunity, yet refuse opportunity to others.

The world I aspire to is one where justice is equally served, no matter your station. Everyone gets the same rights to quality education, health care and child care. All life is deemed sacred, and the International Criminal Court actually stands for something. Bullies are not tolerated at any level of society.

I realise I am no longer on the side of the West. I am not on the side of sides, but rather justice for all. I do not think I am alone in this.
