On propaganda
The propagandist’s purpose is to make one set of people forget that certain other sets of people are human.
This might well be the test.
The moment we assign a group of people as subhuman, we are under the spell of propaganda. The propaganda might have been passed down through generations.
The black savage. The dirty Jew. The nasty Catholic. The immigrant who will take your job. The disabled person and their cost to society. The women who seek to usurp the men in power and step out of their rightful place in the home.
In this stage of global development, in the interregnum of change, the space is filled with monsters like Trump, Netanyahu, Galant, and Putin. They thrive on the spread of propaganda and the division it creates. These men probably believe they are superior to all, and as such, those below them are indeed subhuman.
But they do not act alone. They are supported by a machine that is directed exactly towards a world that cripples everyone except those in power, the Empire. Moloch. Our task, for those who are at the effect of their cruelty, is to refuse, with every single measure of our strength, to ever, ever, ever, assign a group of humans as lesser than us.
To reach across the chasm and find a collective unity forged as humanity.
In today’s world, this task is hard. We must interrogate the stories we have been told, the beliefs unquestioned. We must ask the hard questions.
Who are the real terrorists? Who are the corrupt? The cruel? Who are the countries that truly strive towards democracy, and who are those that posture with righteousness? How is my identity threatened by examining this storyline that I believe to be true? Maybe we are the bad guys?
And be willing to confront the truth, which will destabilise the ground we have walked upon so securely for so long.
Look long and hard at those people or peoples we assign as subhuman. If this is true for us, then we are infected with an evil that, if allowed to fester, will continue to tear the world apart and rot our souls with hate.
