The whole of us includes the parts of us that are insecure, doubtful, prone to reaction, defensive, blaming.
Perfection is not a goal. Brilliance is because of the imperfections.
When we work with a synergistic team, we work with the whole. To claim the entirety of each other, the brilliant and the flawed, is part of the process.Â
But we have been taught to think that only perfection is permissible. So when your colleague shows up at work one day and is overly sensitive and defensive, instead of jumping to attack, we can create a field of support, point out the behaviour, and enable reflection and behavioural change.Â
Or when we feel inadequate for the task at hand, still trapped in the veneer of perfection, and our fear of being imperfect or failing takes precedence, we become stagnant in our evolution.
A great team is not made up of perfect people. A team is great because we are all imperfect and become more perfect as a team.
Synergistic Accounting includes the ability to reveal our imperfections to others, not to get away with shitty behaviour, but rather to work with each other on allowing the best of us to arise as needed, refusing to step over Little Atrocities, Daring to Care for the other and allowing the space for the whole of each other and the collective to aspire for greatness but never for perfection.
