Place is not lost. We are lost to place
“Being in profound relationship to place changes everything about you-your voice, your smell, your walk, your morality.” Tyson Yunkaporta, Sand Talk
Each place has its own pattern. Its own harmonic. In Bucky Fuller’s words, its unique Pattern Integrity. Just as we, individual humans, have our own unique Pattern Integrity.
Communities and collectives also have their own Pattern Integrity.
If we have developed enough sense-making skills, we know when we are in a place whose Pattern Integrity is coherent to our own.
The thought that place is absent aliveness, absent the potential to partner with us is a thought of hubris and separation.
When we know the forest breathes with us, the ocean soothes us, our home shelters us, we bow to them all with respect.
To litter, cut down, exploit, extract, degrade our place is to create our own autoimmune disease. We become sick.
Place is not lost. We are lost to place.
