Polarity…again

As our culture moves towards egalitarianism, the “Green” stage of development in Integral Theory, there are several impulses at play.

An ‘anti hierarchy’ response, and the desire to remove all the darkness, evil, bad..from our language, mindset, and actions.

Polarity is required to hold the shape of any system. Polarity is required for existence.

When we suppress the shadow it comes out in ways we do not want.

A puritanical society, where words like sex, lust and desire are considered bad…creates covert sexual predation and abuse. Nudity is shameful. Indeed shame is cultivated to keep the conformity.

When we suppress the polarity and try to create consensus, conformity, flatland, same same, a place where everyone loves each other…we create, accidentally and inadvertently, the field for evil.

Good and bad co-exist. Syntropy and entropy co-exist. Light and dark, a wild ocean and a calm ocean, we need both.

When we are designing enterprises, when we are seeking to create the space and shape for people to show up in their agency within community, we need to also design space and place for the shadow, for ‘bad’, for ‘wrong’ not ‘right’. For robust debate and disagreement, all within the context of the purpose that brings people together.

Given our world has been overtly entropic in the expression of our enterprises and systems and structures, there is a need to sway hard towards the syntropic side. But only as we adjust the equilibrium towards a more balanced world. If and when we approach that balance we need to adjust our approach to allow a more equitable dance between syntropy and entropy in the human design of systems.

The dance, life, existence..lives in the field between. Not good, not bad…

We need the rebels and misfits, those who will speak against the tide.

Out of the field of extractive, exploitative systems, Syntropic World emerged. It is entirely precessional.
