Rest, restore, and then act
The news feed is shocking. We have normalised genocide; we sanction a nation bombing another just because they feel threatened. We watch unidentified thugs chase people on the streets of the United States and arrest them, breaking up families and lives. We let our leaders lie endlessly. We shrug as the elite get richer and everyone else gets poorer. We are drowning in propaganda. AI is eating art alive. Climate is collapsing.Â
We must practice radical self-care while also refusing to shrug, lie down and supplicate to the horror.
It is a both and requirement.Â
Heads up, action stations, in the streets, protest, write, speak, organise.Â
And – unplug, soak in nature, read a novel, watch a comedy, garden, make something useful with your hands.
Never forget that the people, the masses, have the power. They always have. We always have. The feeling of disempowerment works for the overlords. There is an investment to keep us feeling broken and disempowered.Â
Their greatest fear is revolution. Organised. Disciplined. Reaching a critical mass – shown to be 3.5% of the population.
It is not a time to accept the status quo as normal. It is not a time to surrender. Push through the exhaustion. The grief. The infliction of images live-streamed from Gaza.Â
Rest, restore, and then act.Â
