Syntropic Empathy

A crazed man with unprecedented power said the fundamental weakness of Western civilisation is empathy.

Empathy en=in, pathos=feeling.

Feeling in. The ability to feel with others in their experience.

But in order to be empathetic, I must first consider you, and stop thinking about me. In other words, I cannot be a narcissist or a psychopath.

A world without empathy is a world where cruelty is sanctified. Where I have no interest in being with you in your feelings when pain, grief or tragedy strike.

Or, said in another way, where in my grief and pain, no one is there to offer a shred of care towards me.

My work over the last few decades has taught me differently. People long with every fibre of their being to be seen, witnessed, cared for, loved, understood and belong.

Yet, for decades, we have celebrated the rugged hero individual. The solo man. The one who has no need of others for anything.

It is a massive lie. This lie is breaking the minds of our young men. An impossible stand to achieve.

Unless you are a narcissist or psychopath.

Empathy is the key to humanity. To Syntropy. To any future where people dare to care for Earth and all her creatures.

As we stand broken, for whatever reason, it is the hand of the other reaching out, that provides a bridge to a better future.

The strength of human civilisation is empathy. Western Civilisation – built on the codes of domination, misogyny, supremacy and exploitation, needs to die.

May the expression of empathy be the meme that ends Western Civilisation and turns toward a Syntropic World.
